Scene from Polar Bears in the Kitchen:

I stepped as quietly as possible toward the blankets, reached down and
pulled them back. “You must be Corey Dunlap,” I said.
    “You a cop?”
“You the one who crashed my fence?” I asked. I could have also asked,
“Who torched Veronica,” but I didn’t because I knew he wasn’t the
perpetrator. Corey Dunlap’s face glistened with sweat. I wondered where
Ben  had disappeared to while his patient lay here burning up with
fever. “You’re  sick,” I offered the obvious.
“Sorry about the fence,” he said. “You know what happened?”
    “No.”
“The kid was there. He didn’t tell you?”
“The kid’s name is Ben. He kinda left this part out.”
Dunlap tried to sit up, but couldn’t manage. He fell back on Dana’s
blankets.
“You need a doctor,” I said.
